Rumoured Liverpool target Federico Chiesa lit up Italy’s U21 match vs Spain

[ad_pod ]

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Liverpool are interested in signing Fiorentina attacker Federico Chiesa.

The Italian international hit 12 goals and recorded nine assists last term in the Coppa Italia and Serie A, and has clearly attracted the interest of Champions League winners Liverpool as a result of his performances.

Despite being a full senior international with 13 caps for his country, the 21-year-old has been busy starring for the Under-21 side this summer at the European Championships, where he has started to hog the limelight after a quite brilliant performance.

His latest showing in the tournament came against Spain’s Under-21 side, where he stole the show with two excellently taken goals.

The first of which was an exquisitely worked strike, but he also helped the Italians grab an equaliser before going on to net again.

A cross-field switch from Nicolo Barella was controlled expertly by Chiesa, almost as if he had glue on his boots, before he glided past his man and buried a shot past the keeper’s near post.

A finely built athlete with great technique, Chiesa can play anywhere across the frontline and would be an invaluable asset to Jurgen Klopp’s side given his versatility and quite scary amount of potential.

His two goals have rocketed him up to the top of the Under-21 European Championships scoring ranks, and if any Liverpool fan was watching his fine performance against the Spaniards, they would have found it difficult not to get excited at the prospect of him coming to Anfield.

He has also shown that he can adapt to Klopp’s high pressure, gegenpressing system by the sheer amount of tackles he made in this one game alone. Chiesa completed five successful challenges and is as industrial a forward as you can get.

It’s a transfer link to get the Anfield faithful salivating.

Alberto Moreno takes to social media to say goodbye to Liverpool

[ad_pod ]And as the month of July rolls around, many contracts around the footballing world have now officially expired.Alberto Moreno is among those superstars who are now, at least for the time being, without a club. The 26-year-old left-back has been a part of the Reds’ family since August 2014, when he joined from Sevilla.Last season, he played only two league games for Liverpool and was mostly sidelined or benched. His departure was very much on the cards throughout the 2018/19 campaign and this comes as no surprise, with the flying left-back now expected to pen a contract with Villarreal.“It reminds me of a bus seat!” – Watch a damning verdict on Chelsea’s new kit in the video below…Moreno has taken to

Of course, this attracted a lot of attention as his teammates and rivals alike swarmed the comment section, sending their best regards to the now ex-Liverpool man.

Virgil van Dijk responded on Twitter since the Spaniard posted the message on various social media accounts.

Steven Gerrard also posted a short but sincere message, wishing Moreno all the best in the future. They, of course, were not nearly the only ones as a sea of other players and teammates also rushed to Instagram to do the same.

Very good player: Liverpool fans urge club to move for Spurs ace Son

[ad_pod ]Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has claimed that the Reds should look to sign Son Heung-min from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. And it would be fair to say that the Merseyside club’s fans like the sound of the 26-year-old turning out for Jurgen Klopp’s side next term.Son enjoyed a fine 2018-19 campaign for Spurs – finding the back of the net on 20 occasions in 48 appearances, in addition to contributing 10 assists.Aldridge actually also mentioned Son’s teammate Lucas Moura as a potential target for the Champions League winners this summer. However, the South Korean is the player most wanted by the Liverpool fans. You can relive Liverpool’s Champions League celebrations in glorious 2D thanks to the guys at 442oons in the video below…Now, it seems incredibly unlikely that Tottenham would be prepared to sell one of their key men this summer, particularly to a domestic rival. That said, stranger things have happened in the world of football.A selection of the Twitter reaction from the Liverpool fans can be seen below:

Leeds fans expecting Jack Clarke to leave after Twitter bio change

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United fans on social media believe that an exit for Jack Clarke could be imminent as the youngster has taken any mention of the club out of his Twitter bio.

Of course, this isn’t an actual indication that any deal is set to happen, but Whites supporters believe it is a sign that he is leaving Elland Road.

The 18-year-old’s profile picture and header remain the same but there is now no mention of his current team on his profile page.

This isn’t the first time we have seen something like this. Wayne Rooney took Manchester United out of his bio in 2013, but remained at the club until 2017, so these supporters may be getting ahead of themselves with the teenager.

Speculation has been rampant all summer that the youngster will be on his way to Tottenham, and while that deal may still happen this update on Twitter doesn’t signify that it is done and dusted.

Here’s what the Elland Road faithful have been saying on Twitter…

Newcastle Transfer Roundup: Plenty of interest in manager’s job, Bundesliga star still on radar

[ad_pod ]

The biggest news at Newcastle at the moment is of the course that Rafa Benitez is to leave his role as manager. The focus now moves on to who could replace him. Today’s Toon transfer roundup looks at the potential early candidates to succeed the Spaniard, as well as the continued interest in a Bundesliga star.

Blanc and Moyes interest in manager’s job

According to the Northern Echo, Laurent Blanc has expressed his early interest in the vacant manager’s job at St. James Park. The Frenchman has not managed since 2016, however. David Moyes is reportedly also interested.

Ranieri and van Bronckhorst also looking at the role

Other reports, though, mention different names. According to Sky Sports, both Claudio Ranieri and Giovanni van Bronckhorst have registered an interested in the position left by Benitez. Ranieri left AS Roma at the end of the last campaign, whilst the Dutchman left Feyenoord at the same time.

Joelinton still on radar

The North East club will still be looking to bring in new players this summer according to the Mirror. Benitez was not keen on Joelinton, but the Newcastle chiefs are still interested in the Hoffenheim forward, who would reportedly cost over £30m.

Crystal Palace: Jean Michael Seri battle likely to end in defeat

Without a doubt, Jean Michael Seri did not have the strongest of seasons following his £27m move from Nice to Fulham last summer.

After a particularly bright 2016/17 Ligue 1 campaign and previous interest from Barcelona, much was expected of the 27-year-old. However, in the end, he proved to be a huge disappointment, though that has not stopped his name from being linked with a host of clubs this transfer window.

And that includes Crystal Palace, with Football.London one outlet to report that the Premier League outfit are interested in signing the Ivorian midfielder.

Roy Hodgson, though, faces fighting a losing battle, with Napoli and both Milan clubs also said to be keen (Calcionapoli24.com via Football Italia).

Not only can the likes of Napoli and Inter Milan offer Seri the chance to play in the Champions League, but they also look like much better fits for the former Nice man than Crystal Palace.

One of Seri’s biggest strengths is his passing, something Football.London highlighted earlier in the season when things were going right for both him and Fulham. At either Napoli or Inter, the Ivory Coast international would surely be in a better environment to utilise that compared to Crystal Palace.

Inter and Napoli were the two highest ranked teams for possession in Serie A, averaging 56.9% and 56.8% over the course of the campaign. The Eagles, in contrast, ranked 15th in the Premier League with a significantly less 46.6% (as per WhoScored). They, of course, have lesser players than the two Italian giants.

Still, based on that and the lure of Champions League football, it is hard to imagine Seri opting for an England stay over a move to Italy if reports are true.

Manchester United: Fans react to news that Paul Pogba is increasingly likely to stay

Manchester United fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news that Paul Pogba is more than likely to be at Old Trafford for the upcoming campaign.

According to a report by The Guardian, the possibility of the France World Cup winner leaving the club this summer is looking rather remote at the moment and no bids have been made as of yet.

Real Madrid are thought to hold an interest in the midfielder. However, they value him between £100-120million, whereas United are believed to want a fee in the region of £170m.

Despite managing to get 13 goals in his 35 Premier League matches last season and come away with figures such as 3 shots on average, 1.6 key passes and 2 fouls drawn per game for United last season, the 26-year-old continued to come in for large amounts of criticism throughout the campaign.

Indeed, the likes of Graeme Souness (in the Times, via the Express) and Roy Keane (on Sky Sports) have spoken out against the Frenchman in the past.

Pogba has hit back at the criticism he has received in the past (RMC Sport via The Sun), though he has also been criticised by the club’s own fans, as scenes from the final day home defeat to Cardiff City showed (The Mirror).

And the mood does not seem to have improved, with the news that he could be staying at Manchester United beyond the summer irking these supporters below.

Many of them took to Twitter to share some rather negative reactions to the article from The Guardian, with some of them calling for him to be sold.

Here are just some of their reactions…

Man United fans are interested in seeing Milinkovic-Savic replace Pogba at Old Trafford

[ad_pod ]Manchester United are targeting Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as a replacement for Paul Pogba this summer, according to Spanish outlet Marca. The report states that Pogba has already told his teammates he expects to leave Man United this summer, with Real Madrid and Juventus potential destinations.Who is Man Utd’s worst ever player? Bebe? Eric Djemba-Djemba? The fan in the video below actually think it’s one of the Red Devils’ current crop…The Frenchman has spent three seasons in his second spell at the club, emerging as one of the team’s most important players.Last season was a disappointing one for United, but Pogba was one of their stand-outs, scoring 16 times and assisting 11 more goals.Milinkovic-Savic has extensive experience in Serie A with Lazio and last season helped bring success back to the Italian giants by winning the Coppa Italia, scoring in the final against Atalanta.

Some United fans feel the Serbian international’s all-round midfield game makes him an ideal replacement for the want-away Pogba, with these supporters taking to Twitter over the weekend to share their thoughts…

Man City 1-0 Leicester: Vincent Kompany refuses to heed Guardiola’s warning

With 20 minutes left of Manchester City’s penultimate game of the season against Leicester City, Liverpool were as close as they have ever been to the Premier League title. The Citizens were being held at 0-0, and a draw would have left the Reds one point clear going into the last game of the campaign. After 29 years, the end of the drought was in sight.

And then up stepped Vincent Kompany, Mr. Manchester City himself. From 25 yards out, the Belgian let rip on his right foot. As the ball flew into the top corner, Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel had no chance. It was a breathtaking goal from the most unexpected of sources.

In terms of the title race, it was one of the most important goals of the whole campaign. Against the Foxes, the tension in and around the Etihad Stadium was clear for all to see. Everyone knew exactly what was on the line. With both sides playing beatable opposition in their respective final matches of the season, City could not afford to slip up. Fortunately for them, they didn’t.

With the abundance of top quality talent at Pep Guardiola’s disposal, it was a shock that such a strike came from a centre-back. The former Barcelona manager said after the game that he was pleading with his captain not to shoot – according to the Panini Tabloid, he warned from the touchline “No shoot Vinne, no shoot!” – it’s a good job for him that Kompany chose to trust his gut.

Manchester City are one of the best teams on the planet, and a lot of that is down to the Spaniard. His intricate system has taken him to the top in his homeland, Germany and now the Premier League. But sometimes, no matter how fitting the formation and how polished the philosophy, a piece of individual brilliance is needed to make the difference.

Kompany is not even a regular shooter. That staggering strike was one of just five efforts at goal he attempted during the whole term in the league, and only one of two from outside the area. From one side, you could argue that this is because he knows his limitations. He can leave the goalscoring to likes of Sergio Aguero or Raheem Sterling, who netted 57 times between them last season. From the perspective of a football romantic, however, maybe he was just saving the sublime for the perfect moment.

Whether that is the case or not, it was a fitting end to his marvellous career in Manchester. Since his arrival in 2008, the former Hamburg man has been a key part of the City revolution. It is hard to imagine the club being as successful as they have been without Kompany at the heart of their defence and being a leader in the dressing room. He was, after all, named captain at the start of the 2011/12 season, which would end with City’s first ever Premier League title.

As he now returns to Anderlecht to take up a player-manager role, he can take solace in knowing that his strike against Leicester was not only one of the defining moments of a wonderful season, but also the perfect send-off.
