No thanks: Arsenal fans reject Atletico’s reported Bellerin interest

[ad_pod ]

According to The Telegraph, Atletico Madrid want to sign Hector Bellerin this summer and will offer Arsenal the chance to sign Spanish winger Vitolo as part of the deal.

However, it would be fair to say that many Arsenal supporters on Twitter are not interested in the arrangement taking place in this summer’s transfer window.

Bellerin, who is currently recovering from a knee injury, still has four years left to run on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

However, according to The Telegraph, Atletico boss Diego Simeone is keen on bringing the Spaniard to the Wanda Metropolitano this summer.

The report has claimed that Vitolo, who played under Arsenal boss Unai Emery at Sevilla, will be offered as part of the deal.

The 29-year-old has only scored four times in 51 appearances for Atletico but did register 28 goals and 44 assists in 177 appearances for Sevilla.

Check out the video below to find out why Arsenal fans aren’t celebrating Spurs’ UCL final defeat as much as they’d like…

Arsenal’s fans, however, are just not interested in the swap – as shown by the tweets below:

Man Utd will be boosted by Harry Maguire’s angry confrontation with Leicester

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

According to The Sun, Harry Maguire has angrily confronted Leicester after the Foxes rejected bids worth £70m from both Manchester United and Manchester City for his services.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the England international has reportedly hit out at Leicester and accused them of breaking a gentleman’s agreement that they had when he put pen to paper on a five-year deal back in September – they had agreed not to stand in his way if a ‘fair’ offer arrived.

Maguire, 26, is said to be fuming that the Foxes are chasing a sum of £85m from interested clubs, and has pointed to Matthijs de Ligt’s £58m move from Ajax to Juventus as a point of reference to reinforce the fact that they are demanding too much.

Could Paul Pogba be on his way out of Old Trafford? 442oons have put their unqiue spin on the matter in the video below…

Leicester are now sweating over whether or not the former Hull man will play in their friendly against Scunthorpe on Tuesday.

United will be boosted by this news

Presumably, no club would want to keep an unhappy player around, especially one so valuable.

£70m or anything over that would be serious cash for a club of Leicester’s size, and if Maguire really has kicked up a massive fuss over bids being rejected for him, then United have surely been handed a big boost in their pursuit of 6 foot 4 centre-back.

They also look to have a clear run at Maguire after City were put off by the figures involved – they are prepared to go without a centre-back to replace Vincent Kompany.

When the player isn’t doing anything to force a move, it makes it much, much easier for the selling club to demand whatever they want and leave the potential buyers hopeless.

However, when the player actively gets involved and starts to threaten the morale of the camp, then it becomes an issue that needs to be dealt with one way or another.

Either way, the Red Devils will have been boosted by the latest news on Maguire.

Newcastle fans react to abysmal defending during pre-season defeat

[ad_pod ]

Newcastle United have not started their pre-season summer tour all too well.

Their first match of the Premier League Asia Trophy pitted them against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday, who smashed four goals past the Magpies without reply.

And while it is still pre-season so some blunders can be excused, a certain situation has caught the attention of Twitter, and anyone with even an ounce of football experience will spot the issue.

The Toon Army are covering their eyes in horror at this image.

The pictures shows all four Newcastle defenders within five yards of each other, chasing the ball like a local schoolboy team being coached by one of the player’s parents.

If anything, it’s almost a surprise Wolves only scored four if that is how the Magpies defended, and we have to warn you that the Twitter reactions down below are not very optimistic about the upcoming campaign…

Today’s edition shares an offer made for a former Anfield star, eyes on a Russian forward and a Championship club after a young Reds goalkeeper.

Liverpool lodge Coutinho bid

Calcio Mercato is reporting that Liverpool have made an offer to take Philippe Coutinho back to Merseyside. Klopp and co have tabled a two-year loan bid to FC Barcelona, with an option to then purchase the Brazilian for £88m. The 27-year-old has apparently accepted the proposal.

Spurs complete statement signing of Ndombele

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, the club have confirmed.

What’s the word?

The France international has signed a contract at the club until 2025 and becomes the club’s record signing.

Lyon also confirmed the midfielder’s departure on Tuesday and revealed the finances of the deal; Spurs have paid €60m (£53.7m) plus €10m (£8.9m) in add-ons.

The deal comfortably surpasses the £42m paid to Ajax to sign Davinson Sanchez in 2017.

Ndombele becomes Spurs’ second signing of the summer after they also confirmed a deal to sign Jack Clarke from Leeds United on Tuesday. He has been loaned back to the Championship club.

A statement of major intent

Ndombele is a huge signing for the club.

Reports suggest that Mauricio Pochettino placed the France international at the top of his summer wishlist and chairman Daniel Levy has delivered.

Paying over £50m for one player was unthinkable for Spurs just a couple of years ago and now they have a genuinely elite central midfielder.

He replaces Mousa Dembele at a stroke and also sends a message that this Spurs team, that reached the Champions League final last season, is here to stay.

Pochettino, surely, will be thrilled.
