Try harder Levy: Tottenham fans warn club off summer move for Gomes

[ad_pod ]

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur want to beat Everton to the signature of Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes in this summer’s transfer window.

And the Tottenham fans have been on social media reacting to the transfer report.

Gomes joined Everton on loan from Barcelona ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

The Portugal international has been in good form for the Toffees this term and it is understood that the Merseyside outfit are keen to secure a permanent deal.

According to The Telegraph, though, Tottenham are eyeing a £30m swoop for the midfielder, with the capital outfit’s chairman Daniel Levy giving the green light.

The Spurs fans have been offering their views on the potential arrival and it would be fair to say that a number are not interested.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…

Indeed, whilst Gomes has shown some good form for Everton, the Tottenham supporters have warned their club against signing him in this summer’s transfer window:

Manchester United face battle to keep Rashford from Barcelona

[ad_pod ]

Barcelona are interested in signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, according to Marca.

The Catalan side are said to be monitoring replacements for ageing forward Luis Suarez.

What’s the word?

The aforementioned report claims that Barca want to secure back-up to Suarez, who will turn 33 next year.

A move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic has been shelved, however, and Barca are scouting other targets, with Rashford on a shortlist including Valencia’s Rodrigo Moreno and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.

It is not mentioned how much Barca would be willing to pay for the England international, though Transfermarkt value the 21-year-old at £72million.

Indeed, Rashford has been an explosive presence in United’s team since his first-team breakthrough, scoring 45 goals and laying on 26 assists in 163 outings.

He has also won 31 caps for England already and was a member of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.

No price is good enough

Rashford is the undisputed jewel in United’s crown.

Some would argue that Paul Pogba is more valuable monetarily and that may well be true but in terms of his contribution and the adoration for him among fans, no other player comes anywhere close to Rashford.

It makes sense, then, that Barcelona are interested. Rashford is, after all, a gifted forward player, capable of playing anywhere across a front three, and versatility is an asset highly prized at the Camp Nou.

But there is simply no way that United could replace him.

Rashford has been at the club since he was seven, and will surely want to help his boyhood side return to the top of the Premier League table one day.

If that is to happen, United simply must ensure he stays for a few more years yet, and keeping him this summer now takes top priority over the future of the inconsistent Pogba.

Marcelo Bielsa staying would be the best signing Leeds United could make

Thank goodness: Andrea Radrizzani apparently reveals future of Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United and its great news for fans.

On top of contending with the hurt and anxiety of possibly missing out on their best chance for promotion in years, Leeds fans have been desperately worried about the long-term future of their Argentine messiah. However, recent revelations may ease their pain.

Andrea Radrizzani is apparently confident that Marcelo Bielsa will remain as manager of Leeds United next season regardless of whether they get promotion, as per Football Insider.

The Argentine signed a two-year contract when he joined in the summer of 2018 and, though the second year is only activated if the club take up their option to do so, we have zero doubts that they will opt to stay with El Loco.

A second term is triggered automatically if Leeds are promoted this season, the chances of which remain dubious as the club prepare for the end of the season play-offs after missing out on a top-two finish due to poor end of season form.

A source close to Leeds has revealed to Football Insider that Radrizzani has told friends he expects Bielsa to stay at the club even if it means leading them through another long-haul Championship campaign for a 16th consecutive season outside of the Premiership. And this can only be good news for fans, who experienced one of their brightest runs in recent history under a coach who genuinely seems to know what he is doing.

Confidence may not be high at the moment, but a single point against already relegated Ipswich Town will guarantee third place and play-off semi-final against the team finishing sixth, either Bristol City, Derby or Middlesbrough.

This would avoid a two-legged matchup against either West Brom and Aston Villa, both of whom are very capable of derailing Leeds’ promotion hopes.

Sheffield United: Gary Madine must start for Wilder’s side against Nottingham Forest

It is crunch time for Sheffield United’s hopes of securing automatic promotion from the Championship this season.

The Blades are currently three points behind Leeds United in the league standings and know that they have to make an instant return to form if they are to overcome their Yorkshire rivals and finish in the top-two in May.

Last week’s disappointing draw with Millwall was the second game in succession where Chris Wilder’s side have thrown away a lead, a habit which simply has to be extinguished over the next four fixtures, starting with today’s clash against Nottingham Forest.

United’s preparations for this game have been far from ideal as they are likely to be without three of their regular starters. Whereas John Egan will miss out due to suspension after being sent off against the Lions, Chris Basham and Billy Sharp are also major doubts after picking up knocks (via Sheffield Star) which they have failed to shake off this week. Although it cannot be argued that the absence of this trio will have a profound impact on the quality on show at Bramall Lane, it could provide the opportunity for one player in particular to earn the respect of the club’s supporters.

Having arrived on loan from Cardiff City in the January transfer window, Gary Madine has had to try and shake off his previous association with arch-rivals Sheffield Wednesday. The forward enjoyed a successful five-year stint with the Owls earlier on in his career and therefore had it all to prove after signing for Wilder’ side.

Despite experiencing a slow start to his spell with the Blades, Madine, who is valued at £3.6 million (by Transfermarkt), suddenly burst into life in February by producing a stunning performance against Reading which saw him score a brace whilst also providing an assist in a 4-0 victory.

However, any lasting memories of this showing were extinguished a month later as he received a straight red card against Brentford which could have put his side in serious jeopardy if it wasn’t for the brilliance of David McGoldrick and Oliver Norwood.

After returning from his three-match ban as a substitute at Birmingham, Madine created the right kind of headlines last week as he scored against Millwall in a display which must have impressed Wilder. With the only other viable alternative in the striker’s position being Scott Hogan, it would be surprising if he doesn’t start against Forest.

Indeed, when you consider Madine’s recent disciplinary issues, United will be taking a risk if they are to bring him back into the fray yet it could turn out to be a masterstroke if the 28-year-old embarks on a run of form in-front of goal.

What do you think Blades fans? Does Madine deserve another opportunity to impress? Or should Wilder bring in someone else to fill the hole left by Sharp against Forest? Let us know below.

Nathan Redmond hasn’t done enough to warrant £32 million value

Ralph Hasenhuttl has given fans a reason to smile since taking over at St Mary’s but things haven’t exactly gone perfectly in recent times, as Liverpool got the job done in the end last time out.

The Saints are still at risk of slipping into the relegation zone but they can take a giant leap towards survival by getting the better of Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League tomorrow.

One of the rare shining lights for the Saints this season has been Nathan Redmond as his six goals and five assists have been priceless, with his newly-found role in behind the striker getting the very best out of him.

Southampton supporters may be wondering what kind of fee the attacker would attract if he was to be sold in the summer transfer window. According to CIES (via Daily Mail), Redmond is valued at £32 million.

Redmond is enjoying arguably one of the best seasons in his football career but £32 million seems like way too much with plenty of better players out there. His value should be around £25 million at the most as he’s not exactly been prolific in the current campaign, so it remains to be seen as to how he’s worth so much.

Wilfried Zaha is valued at £33 million and he’s produced two more goals and three more assists, so it looks as if CIES have been rather generous with their valuation.

Southampton won’t mind if they can attract that sort of fee for him at some point in the future as they’d make a huge profit after signing him for just £12.25 million (as per Transfermarkt).

Mark Jenkins would strike gold by bringing Graham Potter to the Hawthorns

[ad_pod ]According to The Sun on Sunday (05/05: page 59), West Brom are showing an interest in Swansea manager Graham Potter as the club steps up its efforts to bring in a permanent boss next season.

What’s the word?

Potter has been earning plaudits ever since he was with Swedish side Ostersunds. The job he did with them was exceptional, taking the club from the fourth division all the way to the Allsvenskan, the top tier of football in Sweden.

Not only that, but he also achieved victory in the Swedish Cup and took them to the Europa League, defeating Arsenal along the way.

His previous record is phenomenal, and he could now be set for the biggest move of his career if The Sun are to be believed.

Their report in Sunday’s print version of the newspaper claims that West Brom are showing an interest in the 43-year-old. However, it could take as much as £2m to prise him away from Swansea with the Welsh club laying down a marker for any team who wants to bring him in over the summer.

Albion aren’t the only ones who could make a move, though, with Celtic also monitoring the Solihull born man.

Perfect long term appointment

West Brom have lacked stability in recent years. They’ve gone through a flurry of managers without really finding someone capable of keeping them in the Premier League.

Though, with the Baggies on the verge of possibly being promoted back to the top-flight at the first time of asking, Potter would represent the perfect appointment if the board don’t choose to stick with James Shan.

He was given the reins until the end of the season but it isn’t clear what the plan of action is beyond that.

However, by appointing Potter, West Brom fans would finally have reason to praise their heavily criticised Chief Executive, Mark Jenkins, who was the topic of much debate on Twitter last month.

Jenkins could go some way to making up for past mistakes by striking gold with the potential appointment of Potter. The former West Brom player already knows the club and the way he built a legacy in Sweden should be hugely encouraging for the Hawthorns faithful.

Was Darren Moore’s sacking unfair? The Pl>ymaker FC squad name which Championship bosses should have gone instead in the video below…

He stayed with Ostersunds for eight years which is somewhat of a rarity in football nowadays. With that in mind, he could be the man to really ensure Albion flourish in the years to come with a long-term vision in place.

Need to stop singing: Villa fans are all loving Tuanzebe’s song

[ad_pod ]

Axel Tuanzebe may only have just returned from injury but he has already made an impression, with fans of Aston Villa taking to a song that’s been created for the player to the tune of S Club 7’s Don’t Stop Movin’.

The song came to prominence after the club beat Rotherham in midweek as the Manchester United loanee stood out in defence.

It’s something that has provoked an amusing reaction from supporters on Twitter, with one fan saying they needed to stop singing the song to their dog.

Another individual took to social media to say 48 hours later they were still dancing to it.

Tuanzebe is currently in his second loan spell with the club after initially arriving in January 2018. He then rejoined the club last summer.

His time at Villa Park has been hampered by injury and before returning against Sheffield Wednesday on 6th April hadn’t featured since December.

In total, the versatile defender has featured 21 times in the league for Dean Smith’s men.

He could also be set for a third spell with the club next term after it was revealed United may be willing to let him develop elsewhere again in a report last month.

Here’s what Villa fans have been saying about the player’s special song.

Wouldn’t change anything: Leeds fans don’t want Roofe and Bamford to start together

[ad_pod ]

Leeds fans are hoping that Marcelo Bielsa doesn’t make wholesale changes for Friday’s crucial fixture against Wigan Athletic.

The main thing that Leeds United fans don’t want to see is Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford starting together.

One fan on Twitter argued that Leeds should change to a two-striker formation to utilise both Bamford and Roofe but his suggestion was quickly shot down as supporters are happy with how the team has been lining up in recent weeks.

Bielsa’s side have been getting the results they need as of late and their surge of form has seen them move three points clear of Sheffield United in the race for promotion.

Certain sections of the fanbase took issue with the fact that Roofe’s addition to the starting 11 would see Tyler Roberts miss out. Roberts has been one of Leeds’ top performers in recent weeks and many believe he has to play.

Here’s what Leeds fans have been saying on Twitter…
