O adversário é o time que mais chamou a atenção do futebol brasileiro nesta temporada e, nesta quinta-feira, traz para o Morumbi uma boa vantagem para a partida de volta da quarta fase da Copa do Brasil. Mas além disso, o São Paulo terá de melhorar algumas estatísticas se quiser eliminar o Atlético-PR e se classificar para as oitavas de final da competição nacional, uma vez que o Furacão tem, em média, a melhor defesa do Brasil em 2018, e o Tricolor paulista tem o segundo pior ataque, também em média.

Até aqui, o São Paulo marcou 25 gols em 23 partidas oficiais, o que dá uma média de 1,09 gol por jogo, número muito baixo, que só é melhor do que o do Paraná (1,07), entre os clubes que disputam a Série A em 2018. A escassez de tentos por parte dos são-paulinos já provocaria a necessidade de evolução ofensiva, mas torna isso mais urgente diante do confronto da Copa do Brasil, em que terá de marcar gols para garantir uma vaga na próxima fase.

Com a derrota por 2 a 1 na Arena da Baixada, o Tricolor precisa vencer por um gol de diferença para levar o duelo para as cobranças de pênalti, mas se vencer por dois tentos ou mais, se classificará ainda no tempo normal. Apesar de já ter registrado o placar necessário sete vezes nesta temporada, o time de Diego Aguirre terá um desafio bem maior: o de furar uma defesa forte.

Isso porque o Atlético-PR sofreu apenas 12 gols em 23 jogos oficiais, média 0,52 gol sofrido por jogo, o melhor índice entre os 20 clubes de Série A no ano. Em outras palavras, a equipe é vazada uma vez a cada dois jogos, juntando as partidas realizadas pelo time principal e pelo time sub-23 do Furacão.

E é exatamente nessa divisão dos times do clube paranaense que mora um trunfo que o São Paulo pode aproveitar e fazer valer o seu mando de campo. Acontece que a equipe de transição do Atlético-PR, treinada por Tiago Nunes, sofreu cinco gols em 16 jogos, média de 0,31 por partida, todas pelo campeonato estadual. Já a equipe comandada por Fernando Diniz, que vai entrar em campo nesta quinta-feira, sofreu sete gols em sete jogos oficiais, média de um tento por partida.

Alguns jogadores dessa equipe sub-23 estão sendo aproveitados por Diniz, mas o estilo de jogo peculiar do treinador, que gosta de propor o jogo e atacar, deve permitir ao São Paulo oportunidades para construir o resultado necessário para a classificação. Ainda assim, Aguirre terá de fazer com que haja uma evolução no ataque do Tricolor, que permanece na busca pelos homens de frente ideais.

A Anapolina não deixou espaço para o favoritismo do Goiás entrar em campo. Comandada por Esquerdinha, a equipe se impôs no Jonas Duarte e, neste domingo, saiu de campo com um triunfo por 2 a 1. Vitor Xavier e Marquinhos garantiram a vitória, e Maranhão diminuiu a vantagem da Xata no jogo de volta, dando mais esperança ao esmeraldino.

Os donos da casa tomaram a iniciativa do jogo, e viram Marquinhos carimbar a trave em finalização. Depois, Esquerdinha serviu Vitor Xavier, que encheu o pé por cima do gol.

Aos poucos, o Goiás foi ganhando espaço e teve uma grande chance de abrir o placar quando Felipe Tavares derrubou Lucão na área. Giovanni cobrou, mas a bola parou nas mãos de Calaça.

Esquerdinha engatou contra-ataque em seguida e, após tabela com Robson, serviu Vitor Xavier. O atacante marcou o primeiro do Anapolina aos 35. O Esmeraldino quase igualou ainda na etapa inicial, quando Giovanni carimbou a trave.

Na volta do intervalo, a Anapolina continuou com maior volume de jogo. E teve chance de ampliar quando Vitor Xavier cruzou e o árbitro marcou pênalti após toque no braço de David Duarte. Aos 20, Marquinhos deslocou Marcelo Rangel e fez o segundo gol da Xata.

O time da casa ainda teve chances com Vitor Xavier e Esquerdinha. Mas, aos poucos, diminuiu seu ritmo, e acabou vendo o adversário diminuir o placar. Léo Sena adiantou a Maranhão, que tocou na saída de Rodrigo Calaça.

O Esmeraldino ainda esboçou uma reação, mas a Anapolina garantiu o triunfo por 2 a 1. Com o resultado, basta um empate nesta quarta-feira no Serra Dourada para a Xata garantir a vaga na final.

The Latest: Devlin makes key prediction

Taking to Twitter on Friday, The Athletic‘s Devlin claimed that Postecoglou should be bolder in his tactics this time around, reacting to something he’d heard the manager say about that defeat:

“After the Hamden defeat, Postecoglou said that his players did not take as many “risks” in possession as he liked. That day Celtic were cautious and indecisive. Arguably their best strategy for Sunday is boldness, even a little arrogance, on the ball.”

The Verdict: Correct approach from Hoops

While Celtic could technically play for a draw on Sunday, in order to retain their six-point advantage, going into a game with that approach always feels risky, potentially playing into Rangers’ hands.

Instead, the Hoops must back themselves, as Devlin says, taking the game to their opponents and showing that they are superior when it comes to technical ability.

The vital 2-1 win at Ibrox was proof of that, whereas the cup defeat was different, and it is imperative that they perform more like the former game than the latter.

The IPL has terminated the franchise agreements with Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals and has issued a notice to the Kochi franchise, asking them to resolve their disputes and form a joint venture company to hold the rights

The IPL governing council has ejected Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab from the league on charges of transgression of shareholding and ownership norms that threatened to “shake the very foundation of the tender process”, while granting a temporary breather to the Kochi franchise to put its house in order.The IPL chose to invoke powers vested with it to terminate a franchise contract with immediate effect at an emergency meeting of the governing council held in Mumbai today. The notices seeking explanation why action shouldn’t be taken again remained unsent to the franchises.The two franchises are now considering their options. A statement from Rajasthan Royals pointed out that it had never received any notice from the BCCI and hinted at legal redress without explicitly mentioning it.The Punjab franchise said its legal team was studying the BCCI’s decision, which it called unfair and not in the IPL’s collaborative spirit, and hoped for negotiations to settle the issue.However, a top BCCI official told ESPNcricinfo that IPL 4 was almost certain to feature only eight teams. “These two teams [Rajasthan and Punjab] cannot come back,” he said. “IPL 4 will have only eight teams.” Asked if the BCCI would draft a fresh tender process to replace Rajasthan and Punjab, he said that would happen only the Kochi franchise failed to resolve its internal disputes.The announcement to terminate agreements with the two franchises came after days of hectic speculation and raised further questions about its implications. Though the BCCI president Shashank Manohar said the decision had nothing to do with Lalit Modi both Rajasthan and Punjab have co-owners who are relations of the ousted IPL chairman.After the announcement was made through a media release, Manohar explained the reasons for the decision. “With regards to Rajasthan, the bid was given by a different bidder and the agreement was entered into with a different company,” he said. “The shareholding pattern was different. The shares were transferred into with different people without the permission of the governing council.”When asked about Kochi, Manohar said the franchise hadn’t been scrapped because it hadn’t violated the agreement yet, but was only suffering from internal disputes. He said Kochi had ten days to resolve all problems and form a joint venture company to hold the franchise rights otherwise it also ran the risk of being ejected from the league.Sunday’s meeting was the first for the reconstituted governing council, which had its membership reduced from 14 to eight, and its tenure and powers cut. Chirayu Amin was appointed the chairman of body, replacing ousted chairman Lalit Modi, and the rest of the council comprises five other members – Arun Jaitley, Ranjib Biswal, Anurag Thakur, Ajay Shirke and Rajiv Shukla – and two former cricketers, Ravi Shastri and Mohinder Amarnath, as honorary members.

ويلتقي منتخب تونس مع نظيره الدنمارك، غدًا في تمام الثالثة عصرًا بتوقيت القاهرة، ضمن منافسات المجموعة الرابعة والتي تضم رفقتهما فرنسا وأستراليا.

وقال القادري في تصريحاته خلال المؤتمر الصحفي: “أمس رأينا حفل افتتاح عال جدًا، يجعل كل مُسلم وعربي يشعر بالفخر، قطر أعطت درسا للعالم كله أن الدول العربية تستطيع أن تقوم بأفضل تنظيم”.

وتابع: “بالنسبة للمباراة، نحن نعرف قيمة المواجهة الأولى، سنواجه منتخبا من الأعلى مستوى وهو الدنماركي، وهو من أفضل الفرق أوروبيًا، يُمكن أن يُقدم مستوى مميزا في كرة القدم، ولكن يبقى منتخب تونس عنده إرثه الكبير، ولدينا ثقة بالمجموعة التي تعمل مع بعضها منذ سنتين”.

وأضاف: “حققنا الهدف الأول وهو التواجد في أفضل نسخة لكأس العالم، وتونس ليست جديدة على المشاركة في المونديال، هذه المرة السادسة، يبقى طموح الشارع التونسي وطموحنا كجهاز فني ولاعبين يريدون تحقيق إنجاز وندخل التاريخ من الباب الكبير”.

وواصل: “نعرف أن القرعة أوقعتنا مع منتخبات صعبة، ولكن تبقى ثقتنا في المنتخب التونسي، وإن شاء الله نكون موفقين ونحقق نتيجة إيجابية أمام الدنمارك”.

وعن الانتقادات التي نالت قائمة منتخب تونس، قال: “في الفترة الماضية قمنا بفترة إعداد بالسعودية، وانضم إلينا اللاعبين التوانسة الذين يلعبون في الدوريات العربية بعد أن توقفت سواء في قطر أو السعودية أو مصر، وهذا فرض علينا أن نقوم بمرحلة تحضيرية قبل الأجندة الدولية، وهذا كان مُفيدا جدًا، ثم لعبنا مباريات ودية ظهرنا بشكل جيد على مستوى الأداء في حالة استثناء مواجهة البرازيل، ورغم خسارتنا أمام السامبا إلا إننا استفدنا كثيرًا”.

واستمر: “نعرف قيمة الجماهير التونسية، وهم اللاعب رقم 12 وأكبر محفز للمنتخب التونسي، وأنا فخور إني أمثل بلادي في المونديال، وإن شاء الله سنقدم أفضل نسخة لنسور قرطاج في كأس العالم”.

واستطرد: “هناك شيء تغير في منتخب تونس من المشاركة السابقة في كأس العالم، 2018 كانت أول مشاركة لمجموعة اللاعبين في المونديال، اليوم عندنا حوالي 10 عناصر تواجدوا في المونديال السابق وهذا يُعطينا خبرة، بالإضافة إلى أن اللاعبين عندهم طموح وحافز وسط حضور الجماهير العربي، وإن شاء الله هذه العوامل تجعلنا نقفز للأمام”.

ووجه صحفي دنماركي سؤالًا للمدير الفني عن إمكانية استعمال أنيس بن سلمان لاعب المنتخب الذي يلعب في الدوري الدنماركي لأخذ المعلومات منه وأجاب القادري: “هو شاب نأمل في أن يكتسب خبرة كبيرة، مشاركته في الدوري الدنماركي مكسب له كونه يلعب في مستوى عال، لكن لن نستعمله في منحنا تعليمات عن الدنمارك، لأن مثلما الأخير يعرف عن تونس كل كبيرة وصغيرة، نحن كذلك نعرف عنهم، لم يعد في كرة القدم الحصول على المعلومات بالطريقة هذه، المعلومات أصبحت متاحة، أنيس بن سلمان لاعب مميز وإن شاء الله يُقدم لنا الإضافة”.

وأضاف: “بالتأكيد نتحمل مسؤولية اختيارتنا، وسنتعامل بمرونة تكتيكية في المباريات وهذا دور المدير الفني، أن نعطي اللاعبين حلولًا إضافية للتعامل مع المواجهات”.

وتابع: “منتخب تونس قدم مباريات ممتازة ضد نيجيريا رغم أن كل العوامل كانت تقول إن الأخير لديه الأفضلية في التصفيات الحاسمة المؤهلة لكأس العالم، ولكن نسور قرطاج اسم كبير وقادر على المراهنة مع أي منتخب إفريقي”.

وواصل: “نحن الآن في مستوى آخر، نمتلك الخبرة وعندنا الطموح لتحقيق أفضل النتائج، وإن شاء الله نغير القاعدة ونحقق نتيجة إيجابية في المباراة الأولى عكس النسخ الماضية”.

واستطرد: “نحن في حضارة عربية إسلامية، نحترم كل الثقافات ولكن تبقى هناك أمور شخصية وقناعات تختلف من حضارة إلى حضارة، نحن في قطر ويجب أن نحترم ثقافتنا الإسلامية والسياسية القطرية، ولكن تبقى أمور لا تعنينا كرياضيين”.

وبسؤاله، هل تؤمن بالمعجزات في كرة القدم؟، أجاب: “المعجزات فقط في القرآن، كرة القدم تعتمد على الواقعية والنتائج، عندنا ثقة رغم إننا نعرف إن المجموعة صعبة، سنجتهد وبحول الله سنحقق نتائج وليس معجزات”.

واستكمل: “وهبي الخزري هو ثاني أفضل هداف للمنتخب التونسي، المجموعة تحترمه وهو من المؤثرين، وعندنا ثقة كبيرة فيه، ونعرف إنه لاعب عنده خبرة ومتى احتاجه المنتخب سيكون موجودًا”.

وتابع: “سبق وشاركنا في بطولة الكأس العربية ورأينا قيمة الجماهير التونسية في قطر، اليوم عندنا طموح كبير وشغف بأن تكون الجالية المصرية والعربية جميعًا معنا في المدرجات، وإن شاء الله نقدم أفضل شيء”.

The lowdown: Fitness scare

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed earlier this week that he had a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of the trip to face Premier League title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad.

That’s despite concern over the availability of defensive midfielder Fabinho after the Brazilian was involved in a nasty head collision with ex-City ace Nicolas Otamendi against Benfica.

However, having returned to complete the game following treatment, it appears that the 28-year-old has avoided further complications and will be available for the crucial clash, not requiring concussion protocols.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Manchester City defender Mills was asked for his thoughts after the news of Fabinho’s all-clear, predicting the ex-Monaco star will have a big impact on the outcome.

“It’s a really intriguing game.

“Man City will try and do what they always do. They’ve had to patch up their defence a bit but you expect that to be a bit better with Kyle Walker coming back in and Joao Cancelo going to left-back. They are two outstanding full-backs.

“On the other side, you’ve got Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz. Fabinho is critical for them in the holding role.

“It’s going to be toe-to-toe. It could be one of those games that is a thrilling 0-0. It’s going to be a fantastic game of football it’s just about whether the goals come. Even in great games, goalkeepers have worldies, defenders have worldies.

“There might be half-chances and nearly moments because the defenders are equally as good as the forwards.”

The verdict: Key player

Although many may point towards the attacking prowess in the Anfield ranks, or indeed the defensive solidity provided by Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho’s importance at the base of the midfield cannot be underestimated.

Dubbed the ‘lighthouse’ by coaches on Merseyside, the defensive midfielder has produced 1.5 interceptions and 1.9 tackles on average per game in 38 appearances across all competitions this season (WhoScored).

So often among the first names on the team-sheet, having started 21 Premier League outings this term, if Liverpool are going to prevail against the current table-toppers Fabinho’s presence will indeed be crucial to Klopp’s side.

As we know, a full-time switch hasn’t materialised just yet, but that hasn’t impacted the 22-year-old’s performances – he bagged twice against Aberdeen on Wednesday.

The Scottish Premiership Player of the Month winner for October has been a regular on the left-hand side of a front three under Ange Postecoglou this season, registering eight assists, and O’Rourke has been having his say on a permanent deal.

The Latest: O’Rourke’s comments

O’Rourke was talking to GiveMeSport in a story released on Thursday evening. He confirmed an option to buy clause in a loan agreement and said a permanent move would come out of the club’s ‘summer budget’.

“They’ve got Jota until the end of the season with an option to buy, and they can take that option up at the end of the season, which will then come from their summer budget.”

The Verdict: No brainer?

Some may have wondered if a permanent move for Jota was factored into the club’s financial plans last season, but it seems as if that wasn’t the case.

The Hoops have spent just shy of £24m this season but have brought in £33m through sales – mainly through Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer’s moves to the Premier League.

Therefore, the Portuguese winger could be brought in permanently over the summer and would still keep the Hoops in profit over the last 12 months.

A £6.5m move for Jota, who has scored 23 goals during his career, appears to be a no brainer, especially as he already surpassed his best campaign in front of goal with 10 strikes in green and white.

However, on his return from injury Keedy’s wickets came early in the innings and derailed the West Indian chase, setting up a comfortable victory.After winning the toss, Procter and Brown put on a brisk 133 before legspinner Anthony Martin struck twice. Procter, 22, playing his second List A progressed towards a maiden century but was three runs short when he became Stoute’s first victim. From 179 for 2, Stoute sliced through the innings to finish with 8 for 52, but couldn’t prevent the home side from scoring at a run a ball in the final 15 overs.The West Indian chase got off to a solid start before captain Omar Phillips was dismissed for 17. Um dos principais problemas do time no primeiro turno do Brasileirão, a defesa do Vasco evoluiu na segunda parte da competição e foi determinante para que a equipe conseguisse uma vaga na Libertadores de 2018, garantindo muitas vitórias. Os principais fatores para esse crescimento do setor foram as chegadas do técnico Zé Ricardo e do zagueiro Anderson Martins.

O Cruz-Maltino terminou o turno com a terceira defesa mais vazada da competição, com 30 gols sofridos (ao lado do Vitória). Só estava melhor do que Chapecoense (33 gols) e Atlético-GO (34 gols). Assim, o time não conseguia ter equilíbrio no campeonato e perdia muitas partidas.

No entanto, no returno essa realidade mudou. Esperança de arrumar a defesa do Vasco, Anderson Martins correspondeu às expectativas e foi um dos pilares do setor. Ao lado de Breno, ele formou boa dupla de zaga. Porém, o sucesso do setor tem muito do trabalho de Zé Ricardo. Quando chegou ao clube, disse deu prioridade em resolver o problema e conseguiu. Tanto que mesmo quando Anderson e Breno não puderam entrar em campo, a zaga continuou segura. Isso mostrou que o sistema defensivo estava bem consolidado.

O que ajudou nesta tarefa foi Zé ter conseguido recuperar o futebol de alguns jogadores importantes para dar estabilidade ao setor, como o lateral-direito Madson e o volante Wellington. O treinador também optou por não mexer muito nos quatro jogadores da defesa. Madson, Breno, Anderson Martins e Ramon foram titulares e só saíram do time por contusão ou lesão.

Assim, o Cruz-Maltino ficou com a segunda melhor defesa do returno do Brasileirão, com 17 gols sofridos, um a menos do que a Chapecoense. Contando só os jogos com Zé Ricardo, que assumiu só contra o Grêmio, o time levou só 13 gols, menos da metade so que sofreu em todo primeiro turno.

A defesa foi um dos trunfos para a equipe conseguir a classificação na Libertadores. As oito vitórias do Vasco no returno foram sofridas, com diferença de um gol. Delas, cinco foram por 1 a 0. Até em jogos em que o ataque funcionou e o time abriu 2 a 0, depois levou um gol e o sistema defensivo foi importante para manter o triunfo, como nas partidas contra Avaí e Ponte Preta.

Rangers paid £3.15m to sign the winger on a permanent deal from Genk ahead of the 2020/21 season following a loan spell in Glasgow in the previous campaign.

In all, the 23-year-old made 82 appearances for the Gers, scoring 14 times and providing 21 assists.

However, in quotes relayed by Romanian journalist Emanuel Rosu, the player’s father has said that the 23-year-old is ‘staying with Rangers’ and that ‘he loves it there’.
