Premier League side Everton have been backed to sign Leicester City’s Demarai Gray in the summer transfer window.

As transcribed by Sport Witness, an unknown Premier League scout has backed Everton to move for Gray, describing him as a very good winger for the current generation.

Everton could move for Gray

The unknown scout was recently talking to French outlet Le Phocéen and he was asked about Gray and his abilities. The scout had praise for the Englishman, saying that Gray has an ‘excellent’ rating in England and that he is a quick winger who knows how to go past people.

The scout was sure that Everton will face competition for Gray and tipped Tottenham and Southampton to look at him as well.

He said (via Sport Witness):

“He is a very good player who keeps an excellent rating in England. He is still one of the very good wingers of his generation, even if his contractual situation at Leicester means that he is being ruled out by Rodgers and the managers.

“He is very quick and skilful at knocking out his opponent in the middle of the race, as well as against goalies with a tendency to open his foot to find the opposing side of the net. There will surely be competition, as I think good English clubs will move, like Everton, Tottenham or Southampton.”

Gray’s current contract at Leicester runs out at the end of the 2020/21 season, but the winger will be able to speak to some clubs to sign a pre-contract agreement this month. Benfica, Marseille and Monaco have also been linked with a move for the 24-year-old (As per the Sun).

Gray could be a good option for Everton

In the current campaign, Gray has made just one Premier League appearance and has played just as many times in the League Cup. In the 2019/20 league campaign, Gray contributed to five goals while playing only 609 minutes of Premier League football for The Fixes.

This suggests that Gray can contribute to goals for his team if given a chance to shine. Everton’s Bernard has been linked with a move to Roma and he is a left-winger by trade. Gray can also play on the left-wing and also on the right, so if Bernard goes, Gray could be a potential replacement for the Brazilian. In this scenario, a move for the 24-year-old would make sense.

– Erros acontecem não só na defesa. Grupo todo, principalmente na frente. Combate, composição rápida do ano passado. Tem a ver com início da temporada e estoura na defesa. Trabalhamos para corrigir e não tomar esses gols. Grupo todo está ciente disso e temos que dar a ajuda extra à defesa – disse.

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on his ‘Here We Go’ podcast recently that Manchester City were extremely close to signing Isco in 2018 but they could not find an agreement with Real Madrid.

As per Man City Xtra on Twitter, the Spanish playmaker had agreed terms with the Citizens but they couldn’t negotiate a fee with Los Blancos, who were demanding €90 million (£80.3 million) for the midfielder.

Considering the 28-year-old’s downturn in form in recent seasons, Guardiola will surely be delighted that the club didn’t shell out what would have been an enormous fee plus hefty wages for the Spanish international, as he currently earns £210k per week at Madrid.

So far this season, the former Malaga man has been extremely disappointing, having averaged a 6.32 rating across his seven appearances in La Liga, with no goals or assists to his name (per WhoScored).

Isco’s market valuation has truly plummeted in recent years, with Transfermarkt currently valuing him at £18 million, whilst he was valued at £81 million just two years ago, suggesting that Real Madrid weren’t far off with their valuation but that City were right not to pay it.

When he was linked with a move to Barcelona back in 2017, his international teammate at the time, Andres Iniesta, was full of praise for the attacking-midfielder, saying:

“He is a fantastic player, with an incredible talent.

“For many years he has been doing things very well and he is playing for one of the best teams in the world.

“He is an important player not just in the national team but in his club. He is young and has many years to grow and improve.” (per FotMob)

To be so highly-rated by one of the best midfielders to ever play the game certainly suggests that Isco was an extremely talented player, so it is surprising that his career seems to have fallen off a cliff somewhat in recent seasons.

He has also endured his fair share of injury problems in recent seasons with the La Liga giants, suggesting that he would’ve struggled with the physicality of the Premier League had he joined back in 2018.

Therefore, City will surely be glad they didn’t splash the cash on Isco back in 2018 and they now have the immensely talented Phil Foden establishing himself as a key member of Guardiola’s squad, which may not have happened had Isco joined two years ago.

When it comes to the Wolves academy, it has been all about two men in the last few years – Morgan Gibbs-White and Max Kilman.

The latter has made tremendous strides this season, embarking on his first real run in the Premier League side.

However, Gibbs-White, in rather typical fashion has endured a difficult campaign.

Over the last few seasons, his first-team football has been restricted to just six starts in the top-flight and his chance of rejuvenating his fledgeling career with Swansea during a loan spell this term hasn’t gone according to plan.

After featuring on six occasions for the Swans, the attacking midfielder fractured his foot. When it comes to Gibbs-White, he really doesn’t get much luck.

However, with Wolves switching their formation to now involve a number 10, he may have been handed a lifeline. That being said, he’ll have to keep his place in the pecking order ahead of one of the academy’s brightest talents if he’s to succeed at Molineux.

The player who could rival Gibbs-White for a starting berth in the not too distant future is Taylor Perry.

The 19-year-old has been a phenomenal asset to the U23 side this term and has scored a total of six goals in only eight Premier League 2 outings.

He is a natural goalscorer and loves to get forward, scoring plenty from set-pieces too.

Speaking about the midfielder this season after Wolves’ U23 side lost to Crystal Palace, James Collins said: “TP was unlucky not to start but has come on and scored. He’s probably our best goal threat at the moment.”

It’s clear to see why he stands out from the rest. The youngster is streets ahead of anyone else in the academy in terms of goals and he’s already made his first-team debut.

Perry played twice in the Carabao Cup last term, registering an assist and he was also given the opportunity to play in the Europa League.

Clearly, he has a bright future and considering his position, Gibbs-White has every reason to worry.

After all, Perry is the one still at the club and he’s also fitter. It surely can’t be too long before Nuno Santo unleashes him more regularly at senior level.

Celtic forward Leigh Griffiths is coming to the latter stages of his career and is now an experienced member of the Hoops’ squad.

The 30-year-old has only featured once this season, per Transfermarkt, as Neil Lennon has regularly favoured Odsonne Edouard, Albian Ajeti and Patryk Klimala – all of whom are 23 or under. However, Griffiths showed in his one appearance that he still has something to give as he scored in that game against St Johnstone last week.

Former Scotland manager Alex McLeish has been discussing the player and was stunned by his recent performance as he hailed Griffiths.

Speaking to Football Insider, McLeish said: “He came on and he looked as if he was sharp. He showed good movement, making those typical Leigh Griffiths-type forays into the box, and his goal was great.

“It was almost as if he was invisible. Why has somebody not gone out and blocked his run into the box? He exploited that space absolutely instinctively.

“He’s tremendous. At times, he has missed three or four months of his career. Then all of a sudden he comes back as if nothing has happened – it’s amazing.”

Can Griffiths still have a pivotal role at Celtic?

There is no doubting the quality of the forward, who has played 19 times for Scotland, per Transfermarkt. Throughout his domestic career, Griffiths has made 467 appearances and scored 226 goals. He has also supplied 99 assists and has a rich CV as he has won seven Premiership titles and numerous other trophies.

The Premiership Golden Boot winner in 2015/16 can definitely still have a pivotal role at the Hoops. His distinguished career has given him an abundance of experience, something which he can pass on to the young strikers at the club.

He also showed by scoring in his sole appearance (in which he only featured for 14 minutes) that he can still provide a threat for the Hoops on the pitch. This is testament to the quality of the 30-year-old, and such the praise from McLeish is well-merited.

A recent report emerging from Italy has torn the Celtic fanbase in half this week.

According to Calciomercato, Serie A giants AC Milan are ready to ‘step up’ their pursuit of Hoops defender Kristoffer Ajer with the likes of Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid also keen.

It’s also claimed that the Celtic hierarchy are demanding at least €25m (£22.5m).

The 22-year-old has been a regular presence under Neil Lennon this campaign, featuring in 49 matches in all competitions where he has provided four goals, two assists and 20 clean sheets, via Transfermarkt.

Potentially selling Ajer has been described as “daylight robbery” as well as “absolutely incredible business” by some fans.

It remains to be seen whether Lennon would be keen on selling Ajer this summer, but one thing that is clear is that it would cause a bit of a divide amongst supporters in Glasgow.

وقال أليجري في مؤتمر صحفي نشرته شبكة “فوتبول إيطاليا” مساء اليوم: “الوضع الآن لا يمكن مقارنته بالمباراة الأخيرة هنا (في 2014)، علينا أن نفوز لوضع الأسس الصحيحة والتعامل مع المجموعة بأفضل طريقة ممكنة”.

وأضاف: “في كرة القدم لا يمكنك توقع ما سيحدث، يجب أن نحاول تحقيق الأشياء الصحيحة، في هذه اللحظة في الدوري لم تسر الأمور على ما يرام، رغم أن الفريق يتصرف بشكل جيد، غدًا يجب أن نركز على دوري الأبطال”.

وواصل: “غدًا سيكون من المهم تقديم مباراة فنية والتخلي عن بعض الكرات الثابتة، إنهم فريق قوي من الناحية البدنية للغاية، يجب مواجهة تلك المباريات بهدوء، ويجب أن نعرف ما يجب تحسينه بغض النظر عن النتائج”.

وأردف: “علينا مواصلة العمل، في كرة القدم في بعض الأحيان تحدث أشياءً لا تتوقعها، هكذا هي اللعبة”.

ودافع أليجري عن الحارس البولندي تشيزني رغم تعرضه للانتقادات بسبب أدائه في المباريات الثلاث الماضية في الدوري الإيطالي.

وعن ذلك، قال أليجري في المؤتمر الصحفي اليوم: “تشيزني حارس رفيع المستوى، وسيلعب بكل تأكيد في مباراة الغد”.
